Future-proof timber wall constructions require rot-proof base elements in the critical connection area to the floor slab. COMPACFOAM base elements permanently replace solid wood thresholds that are susceptible to rot – highly load-bearing without settling for decades, with optimal thermal insulation and tested strength.

The customer wanted to make the base area of load-bearing exterior walls in the terrace area moisture-resistant. During construction, subsequent damage to the waterproofing led to moisture and severe damage to the wooden structure. COMPACFOAM base elements absorb high point loads from the leveling blocks, can be processed with standard joinery equipment, and enable force-fit screw connections.

Modern timber wall constructions with ETICS require a base design that is free of thermal bridges. COMPACFOAM base elements create the ideal transition between the area in contact with the ground and the facade insulation—without thermal bridges, with direct plaster application, and individual height adjustment to the ground level.

The base elements are manufactured precisely to the design requirements and are available in any cross-section up to 6 m in length. Building waterproofing can be applied directly without any additional measures. The high diffusion openness allows direct contact with wood without any problems of waterlogging. The dimensional stability prevents any settling that could lead to cracks in the waterproofing layer.
